The Green-Rainbow Party stands with Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner, who has been a tireless servant in the broad struggle for justice, and who has a distinguished history fighting on behalf of the people of Boston and beyond. Councilor Turner has unswervingly taken the side of the disadvantaged and disempowered, steadfastly refusing to take the side of wealthy interests accustomed to buying influence through campaign contributions and lobbying.

Green Party Nominates Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente
for President and Vice President -- 7/12/08
“A vote for the Green Party is a vote for the movement that will turn this country right-side-up again.”
-- Cynthia McKinney in her acceptance speech, July 12, Chicago
Cynthia McKinney won the Green Party of the United States presidential nomination at the July 12 GPUS Convention in Chicago. McKinney, a former Member of Congress from Georgia, received 313 of 532 first round votes to earn nomination by Greens delegates from across the country excited that she will be their standard bearer this year. Hip-hop activist and journalist Rosa Clemente was selected to be the vice-presidential candidate of the Greens.
McKinney served six terms representing DeKalb County's 4th Congressional District before moving to California and becoming a Green. About 800 Greens are attending the convention at the Chicago Symphony Center.
Clemente said she accepted McKinney's invitation to be her running mate because she believes the former Georgia Congresswoman's platform addresses issues not addressed by Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama.
"I chose to do this, not for me, but for my generation, my community and my daughter," said Clemente, 35, in the statement. "I don't see the Green Party as an alternative, I see it as imperative."

Let the Voters Speak! GRP Local Ballot Initiative -- 4/17/08
Global warming, unaffordable health care, housing foreclosures,
regressive taxes, lack of choice in elections... These are all
critical problems that people really want to see solved. But in
many cases our elected officials are not responding with any
decisive action. They need to hear from the people. With this
in mind, the Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts has launched
an advisory ballot initiative that will allow voters to register their
opinions with public officials this November. Advisory questions
will be place on the ballot in selected districts. These questions
will instruct the representative from that district to vote in favor
of legislation that provides real solutions to our urgent needs.

conference on Monday, March 24, MAAPL (Mass Alliance Against Predatory Lending)
introduced three pieces of legislation calling for a 6-month foreclosure moratorium, protections for tenants living in foreclosed properties, and a day in court for homeowners - similar to that for tenants - before they lose their homes.
